This project posed a particularly sensitive challenge: the translation of a patient leaflet for Gilead Sciences’ innovative drug Trodelvy, which is indicated in the treatment of breast cancer. This project emphasized the importance of providing accurate and sensitive medical translations, particularly on the topic of a malignant disease that is so prevalent. We were cognizant of the fact that, in addition to linguistic accuracy, we must convey complex information in a clear and respectful manner, taking into account the feelings of patients and their families.
The main challenge in this project was translating complex medical terms into Hebrew, while maintaining both scientific accuracy and clarity for the average patient. We worked closely with medical experts to find appropriate linguistic solutions, especially for terms that have no exact Hebrew equivalent. We also tackled the challenge of describing side effects that required our translators to exercise exceptional emotional intelligence and sensitivity while maintaining accuracy.
