A notarized translation is a translation of an official document that is certified by a notary public. The notary’s role is to ensure that the translation is accurate and true to the original and that it complies with legal requirements. Documents that usually require notarized translations are identity cards, birth certificates, marriage certificates, wills, diplomas and contracts.
When you need a notarized translation, you choose the appropriate notary public by language set and professional training. The notary will then translate your documents (or use relevant professional translators) and send you the translated documents back with a notarial seal so you can use them wherever and whenever you need them.
The fee for a notarized translation is set by law and updated annually by the Ministry of the Justice. The current fees for 2024 are as follows:
A notarized translation into each language costs ILS 236 for the first 100 words and ILS 186 for every additional 100 words or part thereof (up to a limit of 1,000 words).
If a document contains more than 1,000 words, the cost is ILS 93 for every additional 100 words or part thereof.
Every additional copy of a notarized translation costs ILS 73.
There are two main types of notarial certificates for document translations:
Notarial certificate of the accuracy of the translation – a notary public fluent in the source and target languages personally checks the translation and certifies that it is an accurate translation.
Notarial certificate of a translator’s certified translation – a notary public verifies the identity of the translator who performed the translation, and certifies that the translator signed an affidavit in his/her presence declaring that the translation is true to the original. The notary public does not personally check the accuracy of the translation.

A notarized translation also certifies the accuracy and reliability of the translation – the notary public certifies that the translation is professional, accurate and true to the original, thereby avoiding any misunderstandings or errors.
