Gilead, a global biotech giant, asked us to translate a document presenting its joint operations in the realms of science and social responsibility. This was a double challenge: accurately translating scientific terms about viruses and cancer while conveying their corporate message in a way that serves the company’s business goals and clearly communicates its commitment to social change.
We set up a dedicated team of experts: combining medical and pharmaceutical translators with editors experienced at translating corporate content. In a comprehensive process spanning over 3,000 words, we developed a customized glossary to reflect Gilead’s unique language in constant consultation with company representatives to fine-tune the message's accuracy.
The final document clearly reflects Gilead’s dual story – its scientific achievements in developing life-saving medicines alongside its investment of hundreds of millions of dollars in social impact programs. We ensured the use of inclusive and precise language aligned with the company’s commitment to equality and diversity, from employing diverse populations to groundbreaking environmental initiatives.
This project illustrates the added value of professional translation to global firms' corporate communication. In this era of transparency and social responsibility, the ability to convey complex messages accurately and sensitively is a significant competitive advantage.
